'Shrub' Typography

'Shrub' Typography                                                             'Change is up to you' Poster

Using the them of the issues surrounding nature and its conflicts I have created a typography that reflects a nature influenced environment. The letters are made up of twigs, leaves and stones that i collected from my local park. I made up letter forms with these objects and photographed them in order to create a full alphabet which highlights the idea of nature and a surrounding environment.

Broken twigs and sticks have been used to suggest a broken up society as well as the idea of deforestation; a conflict within nature. However, rather than creating a deformed grunge typography that could amplify a corrupt society, I have screened in a photograph that makes up the lettering in colours consisting of different shades of green. The result of this communicates the message that if we change, we can change our surroundings to create a less exploited environment. Instead we could appreciate the beauty of our surroundings and therefore, my posters quote communicates the message that change is up to us.
